I quit boozing it up in 1998. Shortly after, I entered a 12-step program. While I'm grateful for my sobriety and many of the relationships and experiences I had in that program (and in other 12-step programs), I do feel like some real damage was done to my psyche, and I have spent quite a bit of energy trying to undo some of the harmful ideas I learned.

  

I really value my sobriety and encourage others to overcome their own addictions. I'm still working on some of my less-destructive

ones. :-)
